The Professional in Human Resources California® ( PHRca®) demonstrates mastery in managing HR in California and is designed for HR practitioners who:


  • Have at least four years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a HS diploma or
  • Have at least one year of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Master's degree or higher or
  • Have at least two years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Bachelor's degree.

  • Have at least two years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Bachelor's degree.

The Senior Professional in Human Resources ®  (SPHR ® ) is the senior-most HR certification and demonstrates mastery at an executive level.  This class is for HR professionals that:


  • Have at least four years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Master's degree or higher or
  • Have at least five years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a Bachelor's degree, OR
  • Have at least seven years of experience in a professional-level HR position + a high school diploma.
